Karlie Elizabeth Kloss was born on August 3, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, to Tracy Kloss, a freelance art director, and Kurt Kloss, an emergency physician. She has three sisters: an older sister named Kristine and twin younger sisters, Kimberly and Kariann. At the age of two, her family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where she was raised. Kloss attended Webster Groves High School, graduating in 2011. In 2015, she enrolled at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study to pursue higher education while continuing her modeling career .

Modeling Career

Kloss's modeling career began at the age of 14 when she posed for a 12-page editorial and cover for Scene Magazine in Chicago. Her work caught the attention of Elite Model Management, leading to her signing with their New York office. In 2008, she made a significant impact during New York Fashion Week, walking in 31 shows, including opening for Carolina Herrera and closing for Marc Jacobs. She continued to gain prominence, walking in 20 shows in Milan and 13 in Paris that same season .​
